Shepherd’s Wool Yarn is made from a wonderfully soft Merino top milled at a family-run farm in Michigan. Merino is the softest of sheep’s wool. This yarn is worsted sp. un, meaning it’s very very smooth and almost shiny in appearance. It will give great stitch definition for intricate patterns such as lace, cables, and knit/purl patterns.
This is SPORT weight, 2-ply and matches perfectly with their new sport yarn in solids. There are no two skeins alike, although it is possible to find complementary skeins. Each skein is made by hand using mill ends from Shepherd's Wool Worsted. This yarn is marled, each ply is a different color, resulting in a beautiful extended palette of colors. Every skein is unique and will stripe. Some have many colors in a skein, some have only a few. The fun is watching them change as you knit.
Because there are no standard colors, we can't list them individually here. If you add comments to your order about the kind of colors you're seeking, and/or colors you absolutely want to avoid, we'll do our best to find the perfect skeins for you. We have yet to see a skein of this yarn we don't want to keep for ourselves, so we're pretty sure you'll like whatever we choose.
